The CEO and founder of Patricia Technologies Limited, Fejiro Hanu Agbodje, has reacted to a video that went viral on social media, showing an empty office purported to belong to the cryptocurrency and blockchain company.
In a statement released on October 23, 2023, Agbodje said that “the video purporting to show an empty office of Patricia Technologies Limited is currently making the rounds on various blogs and social media platforms” and that “the location depicted in the video is not an active office of Patricia”.
Agbodje explained that Patricia operates on a fully remote operational structure, and has moved its headquarters to Vilnius, Lithuania, following the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) regulations that banned banks and other financial institutions from facilitating transactions involving cryptocurrencies in 2021.
He said that “our business model is designed for remote operations, and we have invested significantly in infrastructure to facilitate this” and that “our team members are spread across different continents, and as of now, we do not have an operating office in Nigeria”.
He also assured the customers of Patricia, who have been unable to access their funds due to system updates, that their funds are safe and that the company is working hard to resolve the issue. He said that “we are in the beta testing phase of our app and have extended invites to customers to experience its functionalities before its public launch” and that “a large set of Customers who have opted for the testing process are actively having their PUTX redeemed”.
He expressed his regret for the inconvenience caused by the system updates and reiterated his commitment to transparency and excellent service. He urged his customers, the public, and the media to “rely on accurate information provided by Patricia Technologies Limited through our official channels” and to “verify any other sources for credibility and authenticity”.
He concluded his statement by reaffirming Patricia’s mission of making cryptocurrency and blockchain technology accessible to all while fostering an environment of collaboration and innovation. He said that “we will continue to uphold the highest standards of transparency and integrity in all our communications and operations”.
