Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has launched a scathing attack on Nigerian leaders, stating that most of them lack the character to lead the country and should be behind bars or even face the gallows. He made this statement while receiving a delegation of six members of the House of Representatives at his residence in Abeokuta.

Obasanjo emphasized the importance of character in leadership, saying that until leaders change their mentality, the country cannot experience the desired change. He expressed concern that the current leaders are not role models and do not have the attributes necessary for good governance.

The former president’s comments come as he received lawmakers who are co-sponsoring bills on single-term limits, rotational presidency, and governorship rotation. Obasanjo has long advocated for leadership reform and has previously called for a new generation of leaders to take the helm.
