The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has condemned the murder of the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State, Isa Bawa, and directed the Chief of Defence Staff to apprehend the perpetrators.
Bawa was kidnapped in July alongside his son and six others while traveling from Sokoto to Sabon Birni. His body was discovered after a ransom was paid.
A video of the 74-year-old monarch appealing for his release had gone viral before his death. Matawalle described the killing as “heinous, senseless, and unacceptable” and assured that the military would leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators to justice.
He stressed that President Bola Tinubu has been providing full support to the military to address security concerns, and Matawalle emphasized that security remains a top priority. The public has been assured that the Armed Forces will take all necessary measures to ensure justice is served.
