On Tuesday, the Federal Government signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mutual Commitment Company Limited, a Chinese company for the assembly of electric tricycles with the creation of a renewable energy training centre.
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu and the Managing Director of REA, Mr Abba Aliyu were in attendance in which Rural Electrification Agency facilitated the MoU signing ceremony.
Adelabu’s spokesman, Bolaji Tunji disclose on Tuesday that the event took place in Beijing prior to the opening of the African-China Co-operation Summit.
Adelabu stated that the MoU event is of utmost priority and will be a memorable day for Nigeria.
Adelabu stated, “I know Nigeria and China have a lot of things in common, one of which is the fact that Nigeria and China are both high population countries and with a country with high population, you have so much pressure.
‘The first pressure is that of energy access, and job creation. So when you take steps to achieve both, it is a thing of joy. I am particularly happy that this is happening during the tenure of President Bola Tinubu, as it is in line with achieving the Renewed Hope Agenda of the administration for the country.”
The Minister emphasize that Tinubu has prioritized the power sector as the force for all other critical sectors of the economy by giving the sector all the support to endeavor it delivers his campaign promises.
Reiterating the importance of the ceremony, the REA boss said it has the capacity of delivering on the presidential mandate of building local capacity and creating more jobs.
He highlighted that MCC is currently involved in Nigeria with the construction of 12 megawatts and 3 megawatts power plants in Kaduna and Maiduguri.
On the power minister relentless effort to Nigeria’s energy growth, the Vice Chairman of MCC, Yan Zhezhu relayed his gratitude to him.
