President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians to shun statements capable of plunging the country into the sea of crisis, as he felicitated with Muslims across the country on the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr.
The president, in a statement by his media aide Garba Shehu, called on Muslims to imbibe the lessons of the just concluded Ramadan fast in their daily activities.
President Buhari, who has been in the United Kingdom for a ”follow-up treatment” since May 7, also urged Nigerians to embrace peace and avoid actions against one another.
The message read in parts: ”I am immensely grateful to God for His mercy in guiding us successfully to conclude another Ramadan fast.
”My greetings to all Nigerian Muslims and our brothers Christians on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr.
”I, again, appeal to all Nigerians to avoid reckless statements or actions against our fellow countrymen.
”We should all resolve to live in peace and unity in our great country, which is the envy of many less endowed nations.”
