Kenya’s Abraham Kiptum has emerged winner of the 2nd Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, defending his title.
Abraham Kiptum of Kenya has won the international category of the 2nd Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, defending his title.
Meanwhile, Ronny Kipkoech Kiboss, came second in 2 hours, 15 minutes 25 seconds while Kiprotich Kiroi, completed the top three clocking 2 hours, 15 minutes, 28 seconds.
He won the first edition of the marathon last year in Lagos on February 6, 2016 with a winning time of 2 hours 16 minutes, 21 seconds.

The Kenyan had previously bared his intentions to retain his title.
In a statement made available to the Communications and Media Department of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Kiptum said:
“I want to retain my title and run a sub 2.10:00 on February 11, 2017.”
“I came to Lagos as an underdog, nobody gave a chance, and people were expecting Kiplaglat to win, so I ran without any pressure. I know I will be the center of attraction on February 11, but am mentally and physically prepare for the challenge, I know am in good shape to win and do it under 2.100.”
Kipton is expected to smile home with $50,000 for his victory today.
