Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has said that despite the affirmation of his election by the governorship election petition tribunal, he will not rest until he reclaims the mandate he said was stolen by his predecessor, Jonah Jang, who is now the Senator representing Plateau North senatorial district.
“Despite that tribunal has affirmed my victory, I will not go to sleep until we reclaim our mandate that was stolen by PDP at the Plateau northern senatorial district; because I believe we won the elections”, the governor said Wednesday.
Lalong stated this while addressing party supporters, who thronged to the Government House on Wednesday to celebrate his victory at the tribunal.
The tribunal, on Monday, upheld Mr. Jang’s election at the April 11, 2015 elections.
The governor told Plateau people not to expect miracles from his administration, but that he would do his best to develop the state.
“I want to tell you people that not many people will be appointed to work in this administration. But I assure you, all citizens must feel the impact of my administration; ours is an all-inclusive government”.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Jonah Jang, in March, was declared winner of the Plateau North senatorial elections, defeating the All Progressives Congress candidate, Eunice Sambo.
Jang’s election was upheld by the National Assembly tribunal but the APC has filed an appeal, challenging the decision of the tribunal.
