David Cameron has said Donald Trump’s comments on banning Muslims are “dangerous” but is prepared to meet him if he comes to the UK.
The Prime Minister has been outspoken in his criticism of the presumptive Republican nominee’s proposal, which he has previously called “divisive, stupid and wrong”.
Mr Trump has called for a temporary ban on Muslims entering the US.
Speaking on ITV’s Peston On Sunday, Mr Cameron said: “It’s a very dangerous thing to say … as well as a divisive and wrong one.”
However, he said he would be prepared to meet Mr Trump if he came to Britain ahead of the US election.
The PM has previously said he will work with the winner of November’s election and is committed to maintaining the US-UK relationship, his spokesman has said.
