The call for the release of the leader of the Shiite group Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky has been revived.
The call was made by the group’s Yobe state chapter which embarked on a procession through the streets of Potiskum town with inscriptions demanding their leader’s release.
Mallam Ibrahim Lawan, the leader of the group in the state, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to obey the court order that demands the release of the religios leader and his wife, Malama Zeenat Ibrahim.
He said: “We call on the Federal Government of Nigeria, (FGN) led by the President Muhammadu Buhari and the security agencies to release the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) Malam Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and others with immediate effect.”
“The court, an Abuja Judicial Division of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, on Friday the 2nd of December, 2016, gave an order for the release of the leader of the Shi’a Islamic Movement in Nigeria, Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.”
El-Zakzaky was arrested in December of 2015 after members of the group clashed with men of the Nigerian Army.
