The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, on Friday expressed regret over Thursday’s loss of lives in Anambra State.
The party chairman said this while reacting to an explosion in an industrial gas plant in Nnewi town late on Thursday. The disaster led to the death of an estimated 100 people.
Odigie-Oyegun who described the incident as “tragic and regrettable”, also condoled with the families of the victims, government and people of Anambra State.
He said, “My prayers and condolences go out to the families of the victims of the gas explosion. I pray that the almighty God gives them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.”
The apc National Chairman also expressed solidarity with the Governor of the state, Willie Obiano, the Igwe of Nnewi and the entire Nnewi people over the incidence.
Odigie-Oyegun equally sent a condolence message to Godwin Emefiele, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and Alhaji Barkindo Mustapha, the Lamido of Adamawa who both lost their mothers.
He prayed to God to grant the families of the deceased the strength to bear their loss.
