A must-watch duet!
After a terrific series of Blind Auditions and a more difficult Knockouts stage, Season 4 of Reality TV Show, The Voice Nigeria is finally at The Battles Round.
How The Battles Works
During this stage, talents go head-to-head in an ultimate conquest to feature on the Live Shows. Each singer is paired within their team and coaches decide which of their singers in each pair will advance in the competition. The coach gives each Battle pairing the song to perform in an ultimate test of teamwork and unhinged craftsmanship.

Let the Battles Begin
Kate Henshaw looked stunning in a well-tailored yellow jumpsuit that was an absolute delight to spot. Looking her personal best yet this season, the host introduced each talent pair on Coach Waje’s team to go “voice-to-voice” for the most coveted prize of progressing to the Live Shows.
The episode also featured guest coach and award-winning singer – 9ice who alongside other coaches sat ringside to watch the keenly contested match ups for the night.
Matt the Baritone vs Timi Fierce.
The show kicked off with two extraordinary talents, Matt and Timi Osigwe singing “The Prayer” by Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli. These extraordinary talents delivered a commendable performance of the renowned duet “The Prayer” that was described as ‘difficult’ to perform. Although Timi was fierce in her delivery, Matthew channeled his classical music core to deliver a riveting performance that was particularly fitting. In the end, Matthew was judged the better performer of the night by Coach Waje and conferred a spot on the Live Shows.
David Ikande vs Jochebel Pepple.
In the second round, two singers whose professions run parallel but meet on the grounds of music were paired to sing “We Found Love” by Rihanna & Calvin Harris. David, a professional football player, was right on target with his vocal deftness while Jochebel, a business manager, impressively managed her vocal side of things. The result was a beautiful performance with harmonious synergy and complementary singing. David was however crowned winner of the round by Coach Waje and was certified to progress to the Live Shows.
Faith vs Marzz.
The battle of two faves.
Faith and Martin took centre stage for the third round of the Battles in an exhilarating Voice Nigeria showdown. The singers who are notable for their rhythmic and passionate musical styles made a great pair for the Battles Round singing “Suit and Tie”. The gentlemen dressed up in complementary attire to deliver a thrilling show in a battle of hearts for Coach Waje. Commendations of their performance revolved around their synergy and versatility while remaining competitive to deliver a good show. Faith however had better vocal control in the round of things and was judged winner of the round in a tactical decision by Coach Waje.
The singer is notable for emotive performances such as “Perfect” and Marrz has to his belt an incomparable performance such as “You Raise Me Up”.
The most believable performance of the night
Music is a language.”
Waje
Chika and Tejiri brought the best of the night, singing “Beauty and the Beast” by Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson. The classical Disney duet was delivered in a harmonious form that only Tejiri and Chika could as the two singers lit up the Voice Nigeria stage.
Their performance was tagged as the most believable performance of the night and the duo was commended for their vulnerability and emotiveness. Tejiri won the round in a difficult but credible decision from Coach Waje.
