On Thursday, Simon Ekpa, a well-known pro-Biafra separatist agitator, was taken into custody in Finland.
Ekpa had been residing in Lahti, and the police escorted him out of his private apartment in the city centre.
According to Tommi Reen, a criminal investigator with the Central Criminal Police, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Finland had carried out a police operation at Ekpa’s apartment.
Reen declined to comment further on the matter, citing an ongoing preliminary investigation.
Ekpa had been a vocal advocate for the secession of Biafra from Nigeria and had gained a significant following on social media platforms.
