Employee recognition has been identified as a key factor in increasing engagement and motivation at work. In a recent TEDxBellevue session, Mike Robbins explained that recognition is essential not only as a standalone factor but also as a component of a company culture that values and appreciates its people beyond their achievements.

MTN Nigeria, the leading ICT company in Nigeria, has taken this approach seriously and recently held its Annual Sales Conference to recognize the contributions of its business partners.

The three-day conference began on February 14, 2023, with a forum and ended on February 16, 2023, with an award ceremony held at the Lagos Continental Hotel in Victoria Island.

Business partners from all over Nigeria and top company executives attended the event, which is held annually to honour long-standing partnerships and lay out plans for the coming year.

The award ceremony was the highlight of the event, with MTN Nigeria recognizing its business partners for their support of the brand in the previous year.

The criteria for recognition were in line with the company’s mission, brand, and culture, reflecting its aspirational identity to motivate others.

Recognition is a vital element of a strong company culture, and MTN Nigeria is committed to making sure that all of its trading partners have the support they require to reach their individual and organisational goals.

According to the company’s statement, “Recognition is important because it meets a core human need for both the employee and the company.”

As a leader in the ICT industry, MTN Nigeria understands that there is no perfect recipe for creating a great workplace in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

While high pay, good health benefits, vacation time, and other office perks like gym access, free lunch, and free snacks are frequently cited as factors that make a workplace great, employees today consider many of those things to be the absolute minimum.

Companies that have mastered their corporate cultures are aware of the importance of searching for deeper responses to this query, such as “feeling valued,” “a sense of community,” “employee well-being,” and “opportunities to grow.”

The recognition culture that MTN Nigeria has created is a key factor in engaging and motivating its employees while also fostering trust and security.

There is a significant correlation between employee recognition and employee engagement, with recognition boosting employee engagement and contributing to mental well-being.
