The Kano State government has decided to withdraw its lawsuit aimed at preventing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from investigating former governor Abdullahi Ganduje regarding the alleged bribery scandal captured in video clips.

Previously, during the administration’s tenure, the state government had initiated legal proceedings before the Federal High Court in Kano to halt the anti-graft agency from probing or questioning the former governor, as well as the former Executive Chairman and Director Finance of SUBEB, and the Accountant General of Kano State, with regards to the bribery allegations showcased in the video clips.

The case was initiated by Sanusi Musa SAN, from the law firm Aliyu & Musa Legal Practitioner, who had received a fiat from the Ministry under the previous Attorney General. However, with the change in government, the new Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General, Haruna Dederi, has taken action to withdraw the lawsuit.

Amina Yargaya, the Solicitor General of the Kano State Ministry of Justice, has filed a notice of discontinuance in accordance with Order 50 of the Federal High Court Civil Procedure Rules 2019, as amended.

Furthermore, a debriefing letter dated July 4 has been sent to Sanusi Musa SAN, instructing him not to proceed with any further actions related to the case, such as appearing in court or filing additional processes.
