This development is coming sequel to the closed-door meeting held by stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in order to pick a running mate to Atiku Abubakar.

An election was set up by a panel of the PDP, where Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike polled 16 votes to defeat Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa. The Delta State Governor got only three votes.

The panel, which was established a week earlier comprises of former and serving governors, members of the party’s National Working Committee and members of the Board of Trustees, was established last week.
