Nigerian singer Destiny Boy and his partner, Iremide, have welcomed their first child, a baby boy. The 20-year-old artist shared the joyful news on his Instagram early Wednesday, accompanied by heartwarming photos of Iremide and their newborn son.
In his post, Destiny Boy expressed gratitude, writing, “Alhamdulillah. Junior is here. My first son.” The announcement was met with an outpouring of congratulations from fans and fellow musicians, who celebrated the new addition to the singer’s family.
Destiny Boy, born Afeez Adeshina, began his musical journey at a young age, carving a unique space for himself in the Nigerian music scene with his Fuji-inspired style. Starting out at T2 Boys Studios in Agege, he initially worked as a backup dancer for the renowned Fuji artist Pasuma. His career took off in 2019 with his Fuji cover of Davido’s hit song “If”, which quickly went viral on social media.
Following this success, Destiny Boy went on to create Fuji covers of popular songs by other Nigerian artists, including Tekno, 2 Baba, 9ice, and Small Doctor. His own music catalog includes tracks like “Lamba,” “One Transaction,” “Gbese,” “Billion Dollar,” “Mio Gbonkankan,” and “Lowkey,” where he blends Fuji with contemporary Nigerian sounds.
