The Abia State Government has declared July 1 and 4, 2016 work free days in honour of the late elder statesman, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, who died on Wednesday.
The public holiday was announced on Thursday.
The State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, through his Information Commissioner, Bonnie Iwuoha, asked Abians to pray for the family Madueke left behind.
Madueke, who hailed from Abia State, was the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees until his death.
He was a former Minister of Transportation, Foreign Affairs and Culture and Tourism.
