Zenith Bank has once again marked the beginning of the festive season with the annual Light-Up Ceremony of Ajose Adeogun Street and Roundabout on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
The event, which has become a hallmark of the Yuletide season in Lagos, was officiated by the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON.
This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, now in its 18th year, transforms Ajose Adeogun Street, home to Zenith Bank’s Corporate Headquarters, into a dazzling Christmas wonderland.
The elaborate decorations have made the street a major tourist attraction, drawing visitors from across the country who come to enjoy the festive ambience and capture memorable moments.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dame (Dr.) Umeoji expressed the bank’s dedication to creating memorable experiences for the community.
“Over the years, Zenith Bank has hosted this spectacular event, transforming the entire Ajose Adeogun Street into a breathtaking yuletide wonderland. Our beautiful and elaborate Christmas decorations have become a centre of attraction and shared on social media platforms globally,” she said.
She also emphasized the significance of Christmas, urging attendees to embrace its message of love, kindness, generosity, and humanity.
The Group Managing Director extended gratitude to the Lagos State Government for fostering an enabling environment for the initiative and applauded Quantum Markets, the creative team behind the decorations.
“Quantum Markets always make it bigger and better every year, and we are always looking forward to it,” she added.
Zenith Bank’s commitment to sustainability and social responsibility extends beyond festive celebrations. The bank actively contributes to the economic, cultural, and social development of its host communities.
Highlighting this commitment, Dame (Dr.) Umeoji stated, “Today’s business performance is not all about the financial numbers. An institution’s social investments, contributions to inclusive economic growth, and improvements in the physical environment constitute a balanced scorecard.”
The bank’s impactful CSR initiatives have earned it multiple recognitions, including the “Most Sustainable Bank, Nigeria” title at the 2023 and 2024 International Banker Banking Awards and the “Most Responsible Organization in Africa” at the Sustainability, Enterprise, and Responsibility (SERAS) Awards 2021.
