Zenith Bank Plc has been honored as the ‘Bank of the Year, Nigeria’ at the prestigious Banker’s Bank of the Year Awards 2024, organized by The Banker Magazine, a publication of the Financial Times Group, United Kingdom. The announcement was made during a ceremony held in London on December 4, 2024.

The award recognizes Zenith Bank’s strong management, sound business strategy, and its commitment to sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.

The Banker’s ‘Bank of the Year’ accolade is widely regarded as one of the most competitive and respected awards in the global banking industry. Winners of the award span across Africa, Asia-Pacific, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, North America, and Western Europe.

Commenting on the achievement, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive of Zenith Bank Plc, Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, expressed her gratitude, stating,

“It also reflects our bank’s steadfast commitment to deliv­ering excellent services to our customers and contributing to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy. We will continue to invest in in­novative technologies, expand our range of products and services, and maintain our commitment to exceptional customer service in order to sustain our position as Nige­ria’s Number One Bank.”

She also acknowledged the visionary leadership of the bank’s founder and chairman, Jim Ovia, for building a globally recognized financial institution.

Zenith Bank continues to solidify its global presence and reputation. In November 2024, the bank launched its Paris branch following approval by France’s banking regulator, the Autorité de Contrôle Prudentiel et de Résolution (ACPR), as part of its global expansion strategy.

This award adds to Zenith Bank’s growing list of accolades. Notable recent recognitions include:

  • Number One Bank in Nigeria by Tier-1 Capital for 15 consecutive years in the 2024 Top 1000 World Banks Ranking by The Banker Magazine.
  • Most Sustainable Bank, Nigeria in the International Banker Banking Awards (2023 and 2024).
