Hello there, sports fans and enthusiasts! Our journey at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup might have ended, but we got a heart-warming twist that strengthened our team spirit during our run in the competition.

The excitement surrounding the Super Falcons got turned up a notch when the top brass of MTN Nigeria, yes, the ICT giants that keep us connected, swapped their suits for football jerseys to show some serious love to the Nigerian Women’s National Football Team. You heard that right—MTN’s bigwigs went from boardroom strategy sessions to star-studded football shout-outs, and the result? An uplifting message that sparked passion, cheers, and tears!

In an era when corporate suits are more commonly associated with endless meetings and stock charts, it’s refreshing to see these MTN executives take a break from the hustle and bustle to record a touching video message for the Super Falcons. This was a genuine, heartfelt display of support that had us reaching for the tissues!

These executives, dressed in vibrant green and white Nigerian jerseys, brought their A-game, and we’re not just talking about their acting abilities (though we must admit, they’ve got some moves!). In the touching video, the executives spoke extensively about the many records held by our beloved Super Falcons. It’s not every day that you see the Chief Executives channelling their inner football skills, dribbling words of encouragement, and volleying heartfelt messages straight into the hearts of our incredible Falcons.

One of the most memorable lines from the video came from none other than the Chief Executive Officer of MTN Nigeria, Karl Toriola, who said, “I’m passing the ball to you, Nigeria. Support our Super Falcons as they aim to go all the way at the FIFA World Cup. Let the world know that this is Nigeria, this is Naija, where football is made.”

Anyone else get goosebumps? We’re right beside you! If you haven’t seen this video, do yourself a favour and head down to MTN’s YouTube.

But, hey, it’s not just about football; it’s about what happens when big businesses use their power for good. MTN’s gesture did more than just boost team morale. It sent a strong message; it’s a nod to the significance of women’s sports, a reminder that unity knows no bounds, and a lesson in encouraging one another.

So, as we applaud our Super Falcons for making the country proud on the international stage, let us also take a moment to applaud MTN as the official communications partner of the Nigeria Football Federation for demonstrating that nothing can stop corporate leaders from passing the ball into our hearts.

Here’s to the magic that happens when boardroom moguls become cheerleaders and to the Super Falcons, who continue to show us what it means to chase dreams and break down barriers on and off the pitch.
