Olympique Marseille coach Rudi Garcia has shot down talk of a deal for Chelsea midfielder Mikel John Obi.
Mikel’s contract is up at the end of the season and he does not look like getting a new one. He has not played at all under Antonio Conte this season.
The Nigerian is expected to leave Chelsea in January and there’s major claims of the midfielder signing with OM.
John Mikel Obi’s Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr announced a couple of days ago that the Nigeria international was in advanced negotiation with the Ligue 1 giants over a move.
When asked about the Mikel tranfer speculation during a press conference ahead of the Olympic Marseille-SC Bastia encounter, Rudi Garcia refused to answer the question directly.
However, Garcia insists he’s not interested in Obi.
“If we are interested Obi Mikel? At least it sells, it makes good writing … I understand it’s part of the game,” shrugged Garcia.
“Everyone has their role.”
