The Kano State government has revealed that protesters who invaded the State High Court during the nationwide protests carted away documents related to the corruption trial of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje. The court was vandalized and looted, resulting in significant damage and loss of property worth over N1 billion.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf visited the court to assess the damage and condemned the act as a “staged-managed mission” to disrupt the corruption trial. The government has accused enemies of the state of hiring miscreants to carry out the vandalism.

The corruption trial involves Ganduje, his wife, son, and five others, who face eight charges of misappropriation and diversion of funds during his tenure as governor. The court invasion has raised concerns about the integrity of the judicial process and the rule of law.

The governor has called on youth in the state to refrain from being used by detractors to engage in violence and instead focus on skill acquisition for a better future. He commiserated with the Chief Judge and the Judiciary family and urged them to continue with the court proceedings for the benefit of the common man.
