Chidimma Adetshina, a beauty model who recently found herself at the center of a controversy in Miss South Africa, has confirmed that she will participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant.
This announcement comes after she was invited by the organizers of the competition, following her decision to drop out of Miss South Africa due to a citizenship dispute.
In a video shared on social media, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, co-owner of the Silverbird Group, which organizes the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, officially welcomed Adetshina to the competition.
“We welcome Miss Chidinma Adetshina to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 beauty pageant,” Senator Murray-Bruce stated on his X account.
Chidinma, in the same video, expressed her gratitude to her supporters and confirmed her participation in the upcoming pageant.
“I have received an invitation from The Silverbird Group, the organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria beauty pageant, and I say this with great excitement because I have decided to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 Beauty Pageant,” she said.
Adetshina recently made headlines after questions regarding her citizenship led to controversy on social media, with some individuals calling for her disqualification from Miss South Africa, alleging that she is not a South African citizen.
Born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a mother with Mozambican roots, Chidinma’s background sparked debate over her eligibility in the Miss South Africa competition.
