The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has announced that it will not be admitting students into the programs of Biochemistry and Petroleum and Gas Engineering for the 2023 academic year.
This information was shared in a statement released by the institution’s registrar, Oladejo Azeez.
Prospective students are advised not to apply for these programs when registering for this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE).
The university also directed current students who have already registered for these programs to switch to other programs.
“All prospective UTME and Direct Entry candidates for the 2023 admission exercise should note that the University of Lagos will not be offering the programs of Biochemistry and Petroleum & Gas Engineering,” the statement read.
“Therefore, there will be no admissions into these programs. Candidates are advised not to choose either of these programs, and those who have already done so should switch to other programs.”
The university did not provide any further information or explanation for this decision.
It is important to note that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that registration for this year’s UTME will take place between January 14 and February 14, with the exam itself scheduled for April 29 to May 12.
