The Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal has nullified the victory of Sen. Abubakar Ohere as the winner of the Kogi Central Senatorial election.
The tribunal went further to declare Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan as the rightful winner of the February Senatorial election in Kogi Central.
The unanimous judgment was delivered by the Tribunal Chairman, Justice K. A. Orjiako, who presided over the three-member panel.
The tribunal’s decision was grounded in the findings that Sen. Abubakar Ohere’s results had been inflated in 9 polling units within the Ajaokuta Local Government Area (LGA).
Simultaneously, Natasha Akpoti’s results had been intentionally reduced in 9 polling units within the same LGA by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Additionally, the tribunal noted that results from 3 other polling units had deliberately not been entered for Natasha in the same local government area.
Upon conducting a thorough review and correction of these discrepancies, the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal announced Natasha Akpoti-Uduagan, representing the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), as the legitimate winner of the poll.
She garnered a total of 54,074 votes, surpassing Sen. Abubakar Ohere of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 51,291 votes.
