President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the families of the victims of the tanker fire incident that occurred on Saturday at the Eleme section of the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The disaster claimed the lives of at least five people and destroyed dozens of vehicles and goods worth an estimated billions of naira.
In a statement signed by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu commiserated with the government and people of Rivers State, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured in the incident. He directed federal agencies in the state to continue liaising with the state government to provide immediate support to all victims.
The President commended the bravery and dedication of the first responders in Rivers state for their efforts in assisting those affected by the accident. He also expressed confidence that stricter safety regulations for the transportation of petroleum products will be implemented to prevent such tragedies in the future.
