President Bola Tinubu has welcomed the release of schoolchildren who were abducted in Kuriga, Kaduna State, and a separate incident involving pupils of a Tsangaya school in Sokoto State.

The President’s reaction came through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, on Sunday.

In the statement, President Tinubu commended the efforts of the National Security Adviser, security agencies, and the Kaduna State Government for their “dispatch and diligence” in handling the situation in Kuriga.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration between the federal government and states in achieving expected outcomes, especially on matters of security.

The President noted that “incipient urgency, meticulous attention, and tireless dedication” are critical factors in resolving cases of mass abductions successfully. He also acknowledged the “valiant effort” of all parties involved in securing the release of the Tsangaya pupils in Sokoto.

Expressing concern over the spate of school abductions, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that his administration is implementing detailed strategies to ensure that schools remain safe sanctuaries for learning, not havens for wanton abductions.

“Our schools must be made safe and secure for learning,” the President stated, underscoring the importance of educational institutions as essential pillars of national development.
