The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has successfully restored bulk power supply through the 330kV Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line 1 as of 4:56 pm on Wednesday, following the completion of repairs on a vandalized section of the line.

This update was shared in a statement signed by TCN spokesperson Ndidi Mbah, made available to Okay.ng.

With this restoration, the Apir-Lafia 330kV transmission line 2 is now operational, enabling the resumption of bulk power supply to Lafia, Makurdi, Jos, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, and Gombe States.

“As restoration efforts continue, the TCN engineering team is preparing to commence work on the second 330kV transmission line. All necessary materials for the repairs are on hand, and work will begin as soon as the site is secured for the safety of our personnel,” the statement noted.

In the interim, TCN linesmen are re-patrolling the 330kV line 2 to ensure no other sections are affected as repair works proceed. The company also acknowledged the northern region’s extended power outage, which began over a week ago due to issues with the 330 kV circuit transmission line between Benue and Enugu and further complications on the Shiroro-Kaduna line, impacting Kano, Gombe, Kebbi, Jos, Kaduna, Benue, Bauchi, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Kwara, Nasarawa, and Yobe.

“We appreciate your patience and understanding as our engineers work diligently to restore the 330kV transmission line 2,” the statement added, emphasizing TCN’s commitment to increasing power supply to the affected areas.

The TCN assured the public that further repairs on the second transmission line are underway, promising increased power stability across the northern region upon completion.
