Taraba State Governor Signs 2024 Budget Appropriation Bill Into Law

Dr. Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, signed the 2024 budget appropriation into law on Friday in a ceremony held in Jalingo.

During the signing, Governor Kefas underscored that the budget was more than a financial plan; it was a strategic instrument designed to propel the desired development of Taraba State.

The governor emphasized that resources were meticulously allocated to address pressing developmental challenges, stimulate economic growth, and foster overall progress.

He articulated his commitment to leveraging the appropriation to meet the needs of communities and establish a legacy of progress and prosperity for future generations.

The budget, titled “BUDGET OF MOVING FORWARD,” received unanimous approval from the State House of Assembly during the plenary session preceding the signing.

Hon. John Kizito Bonzena, the Speaker of the House, announced the house’s resolution to increase the budget by two billion naira to support critical developmental projects.

In his statement, Speaker Bonzena highlighted that the 2024 appropriation bill aimed to advance the state’s socio-economic development agenda through strategic investments in key sectors such as education, infrastructure, healthcare, agriculture, security, and governance.

The house, in exercising its legislative discretion, increased the budget to Three Hundred and Thirteen Billion, Three Hundred and Eighty-Eight Million, Five Hundred and Twenty-Five Thousand, Six Hundred and Sixty-One Naira, Fifty-Six Kobo (N313,388,525,661:56k).

The augmented budget reflects the commitment of Taraba State to realizing impactful projects and fostering the desired development trajectory.
