Seplat Energy Plc, a leading Nigerian independent energy company, has successfully achieved mechanical completion of the ANOH gas plant installation works on December 29, 2023.
This accomplishment is in accordance with the revised timetable and marks a significant milestone in the company’s strategic projects.
The ANOH Gas Processing Company (AGPC), a joint venture between Seplat Energy and NNPC Gas Infrastructure Company (NGIC) Ltd, has overseen the project, which reached completion without a single recordable Lost Time Incident (LTI) over 11 million man-hours.
This impeccable safety record underscores the dedication of the entire team to secure and safe operations.
AGPC is delivering the ANOH gas plant with a Phase One processing capacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd).
The plant, upon commencement of operations, will supply dry gas, condensate, and Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) to customers. AGPC aims to sell the gas and LPG domestically, with the condensates targeted for the international market.
The completion of the ANOH gas plant aligns with Seplat’s broader strategy, which includes drilling and hook-up of Upstream wells, and the finalization of essential third-party infrastructure, such as the OB3 pipeline river crossing and Spur Line connecting OB3 to the gas plant.
The fourth and final well (ASSN-06) planned ahead of the first gas has been completed by the upstream unit operator, SPDC, following the previous announcement of the completion of the third well (ASSN-05).
The company now anticipates the conclusion of necessary pre-commissioning activities and essential third-party infrastructure, which will enable the commissioning of the gas plant and the commencement of operations. Seplat’s previously communicated guidance for the first gas remains unchanged.
Roger Brown, Chief Executive Officer of Seplat Energy, emphasized the significance of the ANOH project, stating, “ANOH is an important strategic project for Seplat; it will roughly double our gas production, and we are focused on the path to first gas. Once completed, ANOH will provide two income streams for Seplat: wet gas sales from OML 53 to the gas plant and dividends from the joint venture ANOH Gas Processing Company, which will operate the plant. ANOH’s gas will further reduce Seplat’s and Nigeria’s carbon intensity and increase energy supplied to the Nigerian domestic market.”
