Senators on Monday, November 16, shunned an online training organized by the office of the Senate president, Bukola Saraki.
According to a Punch report, none of the 109 senators attended the training which was organized for them and their aides.
The training was organized to ensure a more representative legislature using technology and e-parliamentary tools.
It was also aimed at aimed at strengthening the senators and their aides use of Facebook and social media for effective communication on issues relating to public policy and good governance.
It was learnt that just 25 out of about 500 senators’ aides attended the training and majority of those who attended were from the Senate president’s office.
Speaking at the workshop, Elizabeth, the head of politics and governance outreach of Facebook tutored those who attended on Facebook live broadcast and how to operate Facebook page.
Last week, Isa Galaudu, the Chief of staff to the President of the Senate had announced that the head of the public policy at Facebook Africa will be flying in from the United Kingdom with members of her team to conduct a free training for the senators and their aides
