Iconic rapper and media mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs has been indicted on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, following a series of legal battles that have spanned several months.

The indictment was unsealed on Tuesday, hours after Homeland Security Investigations agents arrested the 54-year-old at the Park Hyatt New York hotel, Okay.ng reports.

The charges stem from multiple allegations brought forward by several women, including Cassie Ventura, Diddy’s former girlfriend. Ventura filed a lawsuit in November 2023, accusing the rapper of rape, abuse, and human trafficking during their decade-long relationship. In the lawsuit, Ventura described Combs as a “serial domestic abuser” who frequently assaulted her, leaving her with severe injuries including black eyes and bruises.

While the case was settled out of court just one day after it was filed, Diddy vehemently denied the accusations, calling them “offensive and outrageous” and accusing Ventura of extortion.

In addition to Cassie’s allegations, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones, a former producer for Diddy, filed a separate lawsuit accusing the rapper of sexual harassment, drugging, and threats over a year-long period.

The charges against Diddy have been further compounded by other legal incidents, including a 2024 default judgment in Michigan, where an inmate was awarded $100 million after filing a sexual assault lawsuit against Combs. The rapper also faced widespread criticism after a 2016 video surfaced earlier this year, showing him physically assaulting Cassie. Though Diddy later apologized, admitting his actions were “inexcusable,” the public backlash intensified.

The investigation into Diddy’s actions gained momentum in March 2024 when the United States Department of Homeland Security raided two properties linked to him. His recent arrest and indictment mark a significant escalation in the legal saga, which has dominated headlines for months.

Diddy, who has consistently denied all accusations, has not yet issued a statement following his arrest on the federal charges.
