The Rivers State Police Command has expressed concern over the escalating #EndBadGovernanceProtest in the state, warning that unlawful acts such as extortion, destruction of property, and harassment of business owners will no longer be tolerated.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, the lack of clear leadership among the protesters is leading to a breakdown of law and order. The police have been monitoring the situation and providing security, but are worried about the call for traders and motorists to join the protest or stay at home.
The Command has vowed to arrest and prosecute anyone infringing on the rights of others, emphasizing that the protest should remain peaceful and within designated locations.
The statement comes after the protest took a concerning turn on August 5th, with the police observing a lack of identifiable leadership or coordination among the various groups.
