In a notable crackdown on car theft in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Police Command has detained Felix Clark, a suspected car snatcher, along Abacha Road in the GRA district. Clark was intercepted by police officers during a routine patrol while riding a bicycle, an unusual mode of transport for a suspected vehicle thief.

Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, the police spokesperson, confirmed that seven master keys were found on Clark during a search, a discovery that strongly implicated him in a series of car thefts. The keys are believed to be used by the suspect to unlawfully access and steal vehicles.

The police further uncovered a stolen red Hyundai Sonata, registration EKY 531 GG, at Clark’s residence. This vehicle had been reported missing prior to the arrest, linking Clark directly to the theft.

During interrogation, Clark provided valuable intelligence, naming several gang members involved in similar criminal activities across Lagos, Delta, and Edo states. This information is expected to assist the police in dismantling a larger criminal syndicate.

The official police statement reads: “On Wednesday, May 5, 2025, at 11:30 hours, operatives from the Anti-Cultism Unit, led by Assistant Superintendent of Police Attah Alih, intercepted Felix Clark, who was riding a bicycle along Abacha Road, GRA. Upon search, seven master keys were recovered from the suspect, who was immediately taken to the station for further questioning. Following his arrest and interrogation, a red Hyundai Sonata with registration number EKY 531 GG, previously reported stolen, was recovered from his residence. The suspect has made a useful statement and identified other gang members operating in Delta, Edo, and Lagos States. Investigations are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as developments unfold.”

Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju reiterated the Command’s dedication to protecting citizens and urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.

The arrest is a significant step toward curbing the rising trend of car theft in Rivers State and beyond, highlighting the effectiveness of coordinated police patrols and community cooperation.
