On Friday, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, officially transmitted the list of his proposed cabinet members to the Lagos State House of Assembly for ratification.

The list includes a diverse array of nominees comprising women, youths, technocrats, and seasoned politicians.

According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, the cabinet list reflects a commitment to gender inclusion as 30 percent of the commissioner-nominees are women.

This move aligns with the state’s efforts to promote women’s participation in governance and decision-making processes.

The list comprises a blend of former cabinet members who served during Governor Sanwo-Olu’s first term in office, as well as new faces.

Among those making a return to the cabinet are Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy; Mr. Sam Egube, the former Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning; Prof. Akin Abayomi, the former Commissioner for Health; Aramide Adeyoye, the former Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure; and Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the former Commissioner for Education.

However, several former cabinet members were not included in the list, as Governor Sanwo-Olu opted for a blend of fresh perspectives and seasoned experience in his new cabinet.

Notable figures who were dropped from the cabinet include Mr. Rabiu Olowo, the former Commissioner of Finance; Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, the former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state; and Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, the former Commissioner for Wealth Creation.
