Rainstorm Ravages Schools and Staff Homes in Katsina’s Funtua LGA

A powerful rainstorm has left a trail of destruction in the Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, damaging numerous school buildings and staff residences, okay.ng reports.

The full extent of the damage remains unclear, but officials confirm that multiple educational institutions have been affected.

This development was made known in a statement released on Monday by Sani Danjuma Suleiman, the Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. The Commissioner, Hajiya Zainab Musawa, expressed deep sorrow over the incident, describing the losses as devastating.

“With profound sorrow and complete submission to the will of Almighty Allah (S.W.T), the Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education announces the devastating impact of a severe storm that struck the Funtua Senatorial Zone on the evening of June 22, 2025. The storm caused significant damage to school infrastructure and staff quarters across multiple educational institutions in the affected area,” the statement read.

The Ministry, led by Hajiya Zainab Musawa, extended heartfelt sympathy to all affected schools, staff, and their families. The Commissioner prayed for divine intervention to ease the suffering and reassured those impacted of the Ministry’s support during this challenging period.

Furthermore, Musawa urged school management teams to maintain academic activities and student attendance despite the adversity. She emphasized the importance of educational continuity and assured the public that the Ministry is actively assessing the situation and will provide further updates as they become available.
