The PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme is one of its flagship programs, offering Nigerian students the opportunity to study abroad. Here’s the latest update on the 2024/2025 cycle.

Overview of the PTDF Overseas Scholarship

The PTDF Overseas Scholarship is designed to provide talented Nigerian students with access to quality postgraduate education in countries known for their outstanding academic programs in fields relevant to the oil and gas industry. For the 2024/2025 academic session, the scholarship is available for selected programs in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship, applicants must:

- Advertisement -

  • Hold a minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in their first degree or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience.
  • Have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).
  • Be computer literate.
  • Possess 5 O/level credits, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Provide a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words).

Selection Process

The selection process for the PTDF scholarship is highly competitive. Candidates are evaluated based on:

  • Academic merit as evidenced by degrees, transcripts, and professional qualifications.
  • Relevant publications (PhD applicants only).
  • Membership in professional bodies.
  • The viability and relevance of the study/research plan.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates should apply through the PTDF to specific programs at partner institutions. The application forms and a full list of sponsored courses are available on the scholarship portal.

Screening and Interviews

The PTDF has commenced the screening of over 600 candidates for the scholarship. The interviews are conducted concurrently across all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria.
