Twenty days after undergoing solitary traditional rites leading to his proper crowning, the Ooni of Ife Oba Enitan Ogunwusi was today, Nov. 23, presented with the Aare crown.
Although Oba Ogunwusi was said to have been crowned earlier in the day in a secret traditional ceremony.
It was gathered the crowning of the Ooni of Ife is usually not done in the open.
“Ooni gives crowns to traditional rulers and he is not expected to receive one like others. His crowning is usually done in secrecy or confidence, not in the open,” a source told The Nation.
Following the death Oba Okunade Sijuwade in London on July 28, 2015, Oba Ogunwusi was chosen as the new Ooni of Ife in October.
