Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 elections, visited renowned legal luminary Afe Babalola (SAN) and detained activist Dele Farotimi in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state, on Monday.
Obi first met with Babalola at his office on the campus of Afe Babalola University, where the two discussed undisclosed matters. The visit underscores Obi’s ongoing engagements with prominent figures across various sectors in the country.
The LP candidate later proceeded to the Ado-Ekiti prison facility, where he met with Dele Farotimi, a human rights activist detained since last Tuesday. Farotimi is accused of disseminating false information against Afe Babalola.
Earlier in the day, Babs Kuewumi, a judge of the Federal High Court in Ado-Ekiti, granted Farotimi bail of N50 million with one surety.
Despite the bail approval, the activist remains in custody pending the fulfillment of the bail conditions.
