Nigerians have expressed divergent views following a viral video showing Pastor Paul Enenche of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, questioning the credibility of a church member’s testimony.

The incident occurred during a church service in Abuja when the woman, identified as Anyim Vera, claimed to have graduated with a “Bsc in Law” from the National Open University of Nigeria. Enenche interrupted her testimony, alleging that she was lying and demanded that she leave the pulpit.

However, netizens discovered evidence confirming Vera’s graduation from NOUN with an LLB Law degree. Her name was listed among the graduates who participated in the convocation ceremony on April 13.

The video sparked debate on social media, with some calling for Enenche to apologize for publicly embarrassing Vera, while others defended his actions. Some argued that Vera’s lack of eloquence might have led to the misunderstanding, while others criticized Enenche’s approach as harsh and condescending.

While acknowledging that the woman’s mistake was regrettable, critics emphasized the need for pastors to handle such situations with empathy and understanding.

Pastor Enenche is yet to respond to the calls for an apology, but the incident has prompted discussions about the importance of sensitivity and compassion in religious leadership.
