The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Saturday’s governorship election in Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke, has dispelled rumours that he stepped down for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Sen. Iyiola Omisore.

Adeleke’s disclaimer was conveyed in a Friday statement through his media aide, Malam Olawale Rasheed.

He said he did not attend any meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Omisore in which he agreed to jettison his governorship ambition and support Omisore as being circulated by the authors of the rumour.

The PDP aspirant described the rumour as “fake news” and the handiwork of detractors, urging the good people of Osun State to disregard it in its entirety.

The statement read in part, “Ademola Adeleke has not stepped down for anybody. He remains the candidate of the PDP for the election.

“Senator Adeleke did not attend any meeting with General Olusegun Obasanjo or Senator Iyiola Onmsore .He did not have any pact with any of the personalities.

“Senator Adeleke remains the PDP candidate .So voters are urged to ignore any fake news about Adeleke having any pact with SDP or ADP. PDP candidate is in this race to win.”

The Osun gubernatorial election scheduled to hold tomorrow, September 22, is believed to be a three-horse race between Adeleke, Omisore and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Gboyega Oyetola.
