President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to France, following an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron.
The visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties and foster collaboration in critical areas, including agriculture, security, education, health, energy transition, and youth development.
The announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday by Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, titled “President Tinubu Honours Invitation for a State Visit to France.”
“The Nigerian leader’s three-day visit, which will focus on strengthening political, economic, and cultural relations and establishing more opportunities for partnership, promises significant benefits for Nigeria,” Onanuga said.
President Tinubu and his wife, Oluremi Tinubu, will be received on Thursday at the historic Les Invalides Military Museum and the Palais de l’Élysée by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.
The visit will include ceremonial receptions and bilateral meetings.
During the engagements, Tinubu and Macron are expected to discuss initiatives aimed at boosting youth competencies in automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership through exchange programs.
They will also deliberate on shared interests in finance, solid minerals, trade, investments, and communication.
The two leaders will participate in a session of the France-Nigeria Business Council, which promotes private-sector involvement in economic development.
Additionally, Nigeria’s First Lady will discuss her Renewed Hope Initiative with Brigitte Macron, focusing on empowering women, children, and vulnerable populations.
The visit will culminate in a state dinner hosted by Macron, before President Tinubu and his delegation return to Nigeria.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu will be accompanied by top government officials to ensure productive outcomes from the diplomatic and economic engagements.
