The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) has announced that it purchased Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from the Dangote Refinery at a rate of ₦898 per litre, Okay.ng reports.

The commencement of petrol lifting from the state-of-the-art 650,000 barrels-per-day refinery began on Sunday.

Located in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State, the Dangote Refinery welcomed no fewer than 300 trucks from NNPC Ltd., arriving to load the first batch of petrol for nationwide distribution.

Addressing media inquiries about the pricing of the product, NNPC Ltd. spokesperson Olufemi Soneye refuted claims that the company purchased petrol at ₦760 per litre.

“We successfully loaded PMS at the Dangote Refinery today,” Soneye confirmed. “The claim that we purchased it at ₦760 per litre is incorrect. For this initial loading, the price from the refinery was ₦898 per litre.”

Soneye further disclosed that over 70 trucks had been loaded with petrol as of the time of reporting, signaling a robust start to what is anticipated to be a steady flow of petroleum products from the refinery.
