Nigerian Gay And Lesbian Makes Uk Most Influential LGBT List Nigerian Gay And Lesbian Makes Uk Most Influential LGBT List

Nigeria’s gay Bisi Alimi and popular lesbian Aderonike Apata has made the list of the 101 most influential lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender in UK. The annual list released by The Independent UK is called The Rainbow List 2014, 1 to 101. Aderonike made the 41 in the list while Alimi appeared at number 80.

  1. According to The Independent, the result honors those who have long and brave histories of standing up for equal rights, even when equality wasn’t even legal, as well as youngsters whose openness in the past year shows children (and adults) that who they are and whom they love need not be a barrier to success in any walk of life.

Bisi Alimi is Nigeria’s foremost gay activist, Aspen fellow, award winning LGBT/HIV advocates, public speaker, blogger, and founder of the Kaleidoscope Trust. He was 94th in the list last year. He lives in London.

46-year-old Aderonike is an LGBT asylum campaigner. She became popular early this year when she vowed to show a sex tape with her lover after UK Home office said she only made up the story of being a lesbian so she would not be deported back to Nigeria. This is her first time in the list.
