The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has confirmed that the four senior officers suspended over allegations of misconduct involving popular crossdresser Bobrisky remain suspended.

This clarification comes in response to a viral video featuring one of the suspended officers, who claimed that he had not received a formal suspension letter.

In a statement issued on Monday, the NCoS Public Relations Officer, Umar Abubakar, reiterated that all four officers would remain suspended pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation by a government-appointed panel.

The Service described the video as an “act of gross misconduct aimed at misleading the public.”

“For the avoidance of doubt, the Nigerian Correctional Service suspended not only the said officer in the video, but three other officers following their alleged roles in various misconducts so as to allow for further investigation,” Abubakar stated.

The suspended officers include:

  1. Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) Sikiru Adekunle, Officer-in-Charge of the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos.
  2. Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) Michael Anugwa, Officer-in-Charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos.
  3. Deputy Controller of Corrections (DCC) Kevin Ikechukwu Iloafonsi, Officer-in-Charge of the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Kuje, FCT Command.
  4. Assistant Superintendent of Corrections (ASC II) Ogbule Samuel Obinna, Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abakiliki, Ebonyi State.

The NCoS confirmed that suspension letters had been issued on September 26, 2024, in line with directives from the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire, and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), and that these letters were conveyed to the respective officers.

The statement urged the public to remain patient as the Service ensures a thorough investigation into the matter, assuring that any officer found culpable would face punishment in accordance with Public Service Rules and other applicable laws.
