Nearly two years after the death of rising music star Mohbad, his father, Joseph Aloba, has revealed that he paid N16 million for a second autopsy, a move he hoped would bring clarity. Instead, the result has left him and many Nigerians still searching for answers.

Aloba, who disclosed the payment during a TikTok live session, said he took the bold step to fund the independent forensic review after being granted permission by a coroner court in Ikorodu, Lagos.

“With all sincerity, I paid the first tranche of N16 million to the pathologist. After that, I spent close to N2 million,” Aloba said. “If the pathologist can come out to deny my claim, then don’t believe me again.”

He addressed rumours suggesting the cost was lower:

“Some people were saying it was N12 million that I paid, but I’m still telling you now that I paid N16 million.”

Okay.ng reports that the second autopsy, led by Dr. Uwom Eze, failed to determine the exact cause of Mohbad’s death, intensifying the frustration of fans and family members who have waited months for clarity.

Since the singer’s passing in September 2023, suspicion, speculation, and investigations have surrounded the case.

Despite multiple probes, including a state-sanctioned autopsy and the court-approved independent review, definitive answers remain elusive.
