Ex-Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi, has been appointed as the Honorary Adviser on Sports to Governor Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State. Having grown up in Jos, the capital of Plateau State, Obi has left a significant impact on football during his illustrious career.
Another notable appointment made by Governor Muftwang is that of the renowned rapper, Jude Abaga, known as MI, who will serve as the Honorary Adviser on Entertainment and Creativity.
The Governor’s office made these appointments public through a statement issued by the Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere. Governor Muftwang expressed that these appointments are part of his administration’s commitment to laying the foundation for excellence within the state.
Among other key appointments are Professor Christopher Yilwan, who has been approved as the Chief Medical Director of the Plateau Specialist Hospital, and Dr Agabus Manasseh, who will now take on the role of Director General, Plateau State Contributory Health Care Management Agency.
Furthermore, Mathew Dawap has been appointed as the General Manager of Plateau Mineral Development Company Limited, and Helen Dabup will serve as the Executive Secretary of the Local Government Service Pension Board.
Additional appointees announced by the Governor include Ishaku Jilemsam, who will assume the role of Programme Manager for the Plateau Agricultural Development Programme; Samuel Gwott, appointed as General Manager of Plateau Express Service; Hart Bankat, appointed as General Manager of Jos Metropolitan Development Board; and Olivia Dazyem, who has been selected as the Special Adviser on Gender and Chairperson of the Implementation Committee of Gender and Equal Opportunities Commission.
Governor Muftwang also gave his approval to the appointments of Hon Alex Chup as Chairman of the Teacher’s Service Commission, Hon Sunday Amuna as the Acting Executive Chairman of State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), and Prof Ishaya Pam as the Honorary Adviser on Healthcare, along with members of the Abuja Liaison Directorate, among others.
These appointments are anticipated to contribute to the development and progress of Plateau State across various sectors, with the sports and entertainment industries set to benefit from the valuable expertise and guidance of Mikel Obi and MI in their respective roles.
