The managing director of the Lekki Gardens Estate Limited, Richard Nyong, was on Monday arraigned by the Lagos state government.
The embattled MD was arraigned before a Lagos High Court in Igbosere over alleged negligence in the fatal collapse of a building in Lekki area of the state on March 10, 2016.
Nyong was arraigned alongside the firm, the firm’s executive director, Sola Olumofe; its contractor, Odofin Henry Taiwo; Omolabake Mortune, Omotilewa Oluwatosin Joseph, Get Too Rich Investment Limited and HC Insight Solution Limited.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges that were read to them and all, except Olumofe, were allowed to continue enjoying their bail conditions.
The presiding judge, Justice Sybil Nwaka ruled that they submit their international passports to the court. In the case of Olumofe, the court granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 and two sureties in the like sum.
The sureties must be gainfully employed and verified by the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
