The Kaduna State Security Council, led by Governor Uba Sani, has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Kaduna and Zaria metropolitan cities, effective immediately.
This decision comes after a review of the security situation in the state, which revealed that ongoing protests have been hijacked by criminal elements.
According to a statement released by Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing Commissioner of the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, there is sufficient evidence to suggest that the protests have turned violent, with reports of looting and destruction of private and public property.
The curfew, which affects Kaduna and Zaria metropolises and their environs, aims to maintain safety and security in the region. Citizens are advised to remain indoors while security forces work to restore order.
The Kaduna State Security Council will continue to monitor the situation and review the curfew as necessary. The move is a bid to quell the escalating violence and restore peace in the affected areas.
