The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed its preparedness to conduct a free and fair governorship election in Ondo State on November 16, according to INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
Prof. Yakubu, who visited INEC Local Government Area (LGA) offices across Ondo on Tuesday, expressed confidence in the commission’s readiness for the upcoming polls. “In terms of the level of preparation so far, I am really impressed by what the state and local government offices have achieved,” Yakubu stated.
He outlined the timeline for distributing sensitive materials, which are set to arrive on Tuesday, November 12. “On Wednesday, there will be inspection of sensitive materials by all parties, candidates, observers, the media, security agencies, and officials of the commission,” he noted, adding that materials would then be moved to LGAs on Thursday and subsequently to the wards on Friday following another round of inspections at the local level.
Yakubu also highlighted the readiness of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines, confirming that they have been fully charged and configured for use on election day.
